Celebrate the historic coronation of King Charles III with a limited-edition coin cover featuring a brand-new silver proof £5 coin designed by leading British engraver Jody Clark

2023 marks the historic coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey in London. It was the first in almost 70 years since the coronation of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, during the summer of 1953. This significant royal landmark was watched by millions of people worldwide and to celebrate the official beginning of Charles’s reign, a limited-edition coin cover has rightly been issued.

The cover’s centrepiece features a brand-new £5 coin which has been expertly struck in 28.28-grams of 925/1000 sterling silver to the very highest proof finish. Uniquely, both the coin’s obverse and the reverse have been designed by leading British engraver Jody Clark, best-known as one of just five designers to create the UK’s official definitive portrait of the Queen during her 70-year reign. The reverse features the four floral emblems of the United Kingdom; the rose, thistle, leek and shamrock, which surround a quartered shield. The design includes two sceptres which will be used during the coronation ceremony. Whilst the obverse features a one-year-only official portrait of Charles with a decorative background based on the Cosmati Pavement, the famous floor leading up to the high altar at Westminster Abbey.

Perfectly complementing this silver proof £5 coin is a replica of a specially commissioned hand painting of the King by renowned artist, Diane Fawcett. The majestic full-colour painting of Charles in a red military uniform captures his likeness perfectly.

To complete this cover, it includes the very first definitive stamp from the King’s reign. The first-class stamp has been cancelled on the first day of issue by the Royal Mail – 4th April 2023 - using a specially designed handstamp, which sets in stone the low worldwide edition limit of only 499 covers.

Due to the significance of the very first coronation in Britain for 70 years and the outstanding engraved design by Jody Clark, we anticipate record levels of demand for this silver proof £5 coin cover. Order your historic coin cover today before they all sell out!
