2021 Remembrance Day Silver Proof £5 Coin Cover

  Description    Specifications      Free Delivery

Own a brand new Remembrance Day silver proof £5 coin cover marking 100 years of the symbolic Red Poppy

2021 marks exactly 100 years since the red poppy, which flourished across the battlefields during the first world war, was first used as a symbol of remembrance and hope honouring all the lives lost in battle. The Royal British Legion, who organise the annual Poppy appeal to help raise funds to support serving and ex-serving personnel and their families, also marks its 100th anniversary in 2021. To commemorate this important year of Remembrance, a brand new, limited edition coin cover has rightly been issued.

The covers centrepiece features a £5 coin issued especially for this year’s Remembrance Day. The 28.28-gram coin has been expertly struck in 925/1000 sterling silver to the very highest proof finish. The coins reverse features a solider kneeling at a gravestone, marked by a cross, his head bowed, paying his respects to his
late comrade. A quote from ‘Hallowed Ground’ by poet, Thomas Campbell also features on the coin: ‘To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die’. Whilst on the obverse is an official portrait of the Queen who traditionally leads the annual service of thanksgiving at the Cenotaph in Whitehall.

Perfectly complimenting this silver proof coin is a 1st class Poppy stamp issued by the Royal Mail in 2008. The stamp is cancelled at the beginning of the 100th anniversary year – 1st January 2021 – using a specially designed Poppy handstamp, which sets in stone the small edition limit of only 149 covers.

The importance of remembering all the lives lost at war and the low worldwide edition limit are two reasons why we anticipate strong demand from collectors for this cover. With such a small edition limit, secure your limited edition cover today before they sell out!
