Limited edition medal cover issued by the Royal Mail in 2021 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the much-loved British sitcom Only Fools and Horses
2021 marks the 40th anniversary of the classic British comedy, Only Fools and Horses. First broadcasted in 1981, the show followed the exploits of wheeler-dealer Del Trotter, his younger brother Rodney, their Grandad and later their Uncle Albert. Frequently voted Britain’s favourite TV comedy series, the show’s 40th anniversary has rightly been commemorated with the release of an official Royal Mail medal cover.
The cover’s centrepiece features an exclusive medal designed by the Royal Mint. Struck to a brilliant uncirculated standard, the reverse features Del-Boy’s iconic Robin Reliant three-wheeler van whilst the obverse features the classic line ‘This time next year, we’ll be millionaires!’. An insert is included reflecting back on Del’s dodgy deals including the launch of Peckham Spring Water and his attempt to sell Alpine Ski Suits in Peckham market!
To complete this attractive cover, it includes a complete set of eight brand new commemorative stamps issued by the Royal Mail. Each stamp features a memorable scene and line from the series. The stamps are cancelled on the very first day of issue – 16th February 2021 – using a specially designed handstamp, which sets the edition limit of 10,000 in stone forever. Each cover is also individually numbered.
The enduring popularity of the Only Fools and Horses series and the strict worldwide edition limit are two key reasons why the cover is in high demand. Harrington & Byrne has managed to secure a very small number of these limited edition medal covers to offer today.
