1981 Royal Wedding Crown Agents Omnibus Stamp Collection

Impressive collection of unused stamps released to mark the Royal marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana

The wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer took place at St Pauls Cathedral on 29th July 1981. This significant moment in our Royal history was billed as the ‘wedding of the century’ and was watched by an estimated global TV audience of over 750 million, with two million spectators lining the streets of London for Diana’s procession from Clarence House.

To commemorate this historic Royal Wedding an impressive collection of stamps were released throughout the commonwealth and crown colony countries. In total, 22 countries participated producing 66 Royal Wedding stamps, all organised by the Crown Agents Offices in London.

Each country issued three stamps of different denominations which included two photographic images and one floral design. The photographic images feature a portrait of the couple and an image of our future King, Prince Charles. Also included is a limited edition Royal Wedding Stamp Sheet issued for the British Philatelic Exhibition in 1981 with the permission of the Crown Agents. To complete this impressive collection, two British commemorative stamps issued by the Royal Mail have also been included.

All stamps are in pristine, unused condition. They are difficult to source, time consuming to put together in this collection and only available in very limited numbers. Harrington & Byrne has managed to secure a very small number of Royal Wedding collections to offer today.
