On 22nd January 1901, Queen Victoria – Britain’s longest-reigning monarch at that time – passed away at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, aged 81. After an extraordinary 63 years and 216 days on the throne, she left behind an empire at its zenith and a nation transformed by industry, science, and global influence. Thursday 22nd January 2026 marks exactly 125 years since that historic moment.

To honour this poignant anniversary, Royal Mail has released a beautiful limited-edition commemorative coin cover that unites the very best of British numismatic and philatelic tradition.

At its heart is the official 2026 UK £5 Brilliant Uncirculated coin, struck by The Royal Mint. The reverse presents a moving double portrait: Victoria as the youthful monarch of 1837 alongside the dignified Empress of her 1897 Diamond Jubilee – a powerful reminder of a reign that spanned from steam trains to the dawn of electricity.

The coin is nestled within a specially designed Royal Mail envelope bearing all eight brand-new commemorative stamps celebrating Queen Victoria’s life and legacy. These stamps proudly reprise some of the most famous stamp designs of her era – including the revolutionary Penny Black, the Twopenny Blue, the Penny Red, and the iconic 1887 Jubilee issue. Each stamp is cancelled on the 27th November 2025 with a unique Royal Mail postmark featuring the profile outline of Queen Victoria, making every cover a genuine first-day-of-issue treasure.

Beautifully presented with specially commissioned artwork and detailed historical notes, this is a dignified and lasting tribute to the monarch who gave her name to an age.
